Heater making a funny noise

Well the girl who purchased my old 91 Legacy seems to be having some problems. When she turns on the heater it makes a funny noise and the idle jumps around.(like its going to stall but doesn't) anyone have any idea? the c/e light isn't on.

There's probably a leaf or something stuck in the blower motor fan cage. You should be able to drop the motor and clean things out.

As for the idle....could be tons of different things.

haha a leaf, thats a possibility. I offered to take a look at it for her...but she keeps blowing me off...geez...im not even charging her to look at it! Ungrateful women..

By "heater" she could mean any of the HVAC buttons. Maybe heat/defrost? So maybe she's hitting a button that turns on the AC, causing the idle jump.
