93 legacy window regularot replacement problem

Last night I went to replace the drivers front window regulator and I think I fucked it up . Haynes manual says to remove glass first. Fine, unbolted the glass at the bottom. Haynes says lift it straight out. Um, nope. Not coming out, glass is stuck at the top (as in the window appears in the up position). Ok, fine. I can pull the old broken regulator out, and put the new one in. Great, now I thought I'd just lower the glass back down but NNNoooooooo. The goddamn glass is stuck in the up position. What the hell? Any suggestions????

So the glass is back in, the new regulator (motor) is in, and the track assembley seems to look ok?

I wonder if the motor only travels a short distance in the housing then stops. If this is the case I would tape the window in the up position, remove the motor from the assembly and hit the switch to lower it then raise it. Keep doing this untill you know it is in the UP position then install it back into the assembly. Hit the down button, see what happens.

I could be so totaly wrong. If I am please correct me.

Thank god its over. Getting the window lined back up in the tracks was not easy, but the next time I do it, it'll be a lot easier.

Yes, I'm replying to another old topic, bu this time it's a question.

I'm going to have to this real soon. Are there any tricks or things I should know before doing it? I can't wait to have a functional window again :!: I just bought this car a few weeks ago, with the broken track assembly. The car I had before this one also had a broken track assembly, I haven't been to the drive through in a long time, which is the only good thing about not having a window.

I just had to do this with my rears when i swapped doors from a wagon onto my sedan. Glass is ever so slightly longer in the back before it drops down on the wagon. I didnt have too much trouble pulling the glass out. Just remove the two bolts on the bottom holding the glass to the track, make sure the window is ALMOST all the way down so you can see the front-most bolt through that little hole. Makes it much easier to get at. Then just slide it up and when you get to the top angle the window in (towards what would be the interior of the car) and watch the guides. They like to catch on the seal rubber and vibration dampening foam on the top. Be patient and it will come out
