Hi all,
I have a 92 Legacy L 2WD with an automatic transmission. Pretty well maintained and no major problems until recently.
A few days ago I had to slam on the brakes. After stopping, I couldn't get the transmission to re-engage. Forward was not an option until after I drove in reverse for a bit. After this it seemed to work OK, so I kept on driving.
Its been a few days now, but a problem wth shifting seems to be getting worse. I have to rev up to about 3500 rpm before each successive gear will shift. it has no pep, and will occasionally slip out of gear even when cruising at a steady throttle. Other than the shifting issue, there are no wierd sounds. the fluid was recently changed and smells fine.
There are no TCU codes, and my only ECU code is for the purge control solenoid, which is disconnected. Looking at other posts on this board has given me the impression that this ECU code is not that big of a deal.
Any advice on what could be going on?

you said the ATF was changed recently....
did you have someone else change it?
Did they check the level when the car is running?
did they know what they were doing?
that would be a first check. Chcck the connections as well.
good luck.
