I can check the part numbers for you. IIRC, the Ej18, early Ej20 and Ej22 all use the same rod and crank bearings. It is probably one of your rod bearings.
I am sorry to hear about this. But it never hurts to tear these old imported engines down to the bone and put them back together...

I actually think almost all EJ bearings are the same.
The EJ257 has the same rod bearing journal width as the EJ22T. I also seem to remember the Rod journals being similar too. But the thrust bearing surfaces are different, so you run into interchangeability problems there, but even then it's not that big a hurdle to overcome.... EG33 rod bearings are the same too . That is they have the same width and oil clearance.
Isn't that the only difference really between all EJ engines, is the crank throw and bore? When using non-stock pistons, you use EJ20 rods on the EJ257.
