Hi Sam
what years do they cover or do they do them all
i'm trying to find out the difference in the suspension on a 91 Turbo Sedan
from other turbos and from non turbos. I have read that the 91 turbo
suspension was a1 year thing
thanks

Rear spring mounts in '91 are unique
O2 sensor in '91 is unique
'91 has rear LSD which is unique

One of the first things I looked up was the LSD. (hmm.. I'll re-
phrase that next time). Unless you know what the mechanical
difference between diffs are (I don't b/c my only other car was a
beetle) then you'll never know by looking at the manuals. Like I said
there isn't much commentary - just facts. I can tell you TONS of
specifications but not too many details of any nature beyond that
really.
So if MY '91 was the only year to have LSD's then how come mine feels
like crap? When I make turns around tight corners at slow speed - I
feel the rear-end give way and it really lets go. I might have
something wrong with this one but I don't remember my '93 doing that.
Either way I hope it is a LSD b/c otherwise I would/will have to
replaced it
with an LSD were/if it not.
The manuals cover the BF - BC models for all years but were published
in '91 so all information contained is "based on latest product
information availible at the time of publication approval" according
to the inside cover.

It's a viscous-coupling LSD. Weird tire wear or bad towing or a
blown tire could well have blown it. Replacing it with a mechanical one,
even if it's good, would yield positive results

Heh, then they wouldn't mention that the '92+ hasn't an LSD, no
would they?

I'm not certain, but I think the final drive ratio in a 91 lsd rear diff is
different than in my 92 open rear diff, which also means that the final ratio in
the front diff must be different as well. As near as I can tell, I can't just drop
in an lsd from a 91 without changing my tranny as well.

Yeah, the '91s are either 4.11 or 4.44, I'm honestly not sure
which. It's pretty steep anyway (great for hooliganisms).

I believe all Turbo 5spds had 3.90s( 91's for sure), and the normal Legacy
5spds came with 4.11s. The owner's manual will tell you in the back.

I would love to know if the 91 turbo sedan springs will fit a 90 leg
wagon???
"subaruparts.com" has what appear to be pretty good prices if you have the
part number.

I did this on my '90 legacy LS AWD sedan. they (the springs) will fit on the
front, the struts will bolt in too. I believe the rears are different tho.

You will never know the answer to that one from my manuals. Why? The manuals only cover MY91 production (BC-BF) and are not specific MY to MY. You can read the discussion about the rear differentials for an example of this.
Sorry dude, I bet a good mechanic could tell you however b/c they get service bulletins etc.

I have heard the rears are diffrent between the 90-91 & the 92-94's. I also
think that SPD does not have an Eibach spring for the 90 leg wagon. So you
may be right.
