Fixed my non-starting issue!!!!!

Post by IronMonkeyL255 »

:-D

I took my car in to Prestige Subaru in Asheville a few days tuesday morning. It started perfectly every time they tried it until wednesday at about 4:00. It turned out not to be the entire ignition switch, but just the replacable contacts. So instead of spending $120 on the part and another $120 on labor, I just spent $20 on the contacts and $120 on labor.

I'm just so happy that my car now starts reliably. :-D :-D :-D

Nevermind.

It doesn't seem to have completely fixed it.

Gonna switch out the starter again and try crimping the starter solenoid wire connector, since it seemed kinda loose........

This sucks.

I fixed it for reals this time!!!

I changed out the ignition switch in about 10 or so minutes, and it all works perfectly. The wiring coming off of the switch to the connector was horribly hacked all to hell. I am surprised that it worked at all.......

Pics to follow once I pull them off the digi camera.

I changed out my ignition switch yesterday, and here's what I found after removing several layers of electrical tape:

Note that the wire in the second pic has 2 crimp-on connectors AND a crappy solder joint, not to mention 3 different types of wire.

I am incredibly surprised that this actually worked, albeit not well......
