Popped a CEL and engine cuts when you give it gas *FIXED*
On my new Sport Sedan, the PO had a funky retarded intake so I re-did it and put it back to "kinda stock".
Basically its the stock airbox with a coffeecup mod and no snorkus, so it pulls air directly from the fender...
But there is no passenger fender liner....
It snowed last night and on my way to school a CEL popped up and whenever I give the car enough gas for the turbo to spool, fuel totally cuts and you cant rev.
This SUCKS on the freeway.
Any ideas? Is water getting into the intake and getting the MAF wet so it cuts?
I need to get this fixed asap!
Thanks in advance!
Spencer

You should still replace that inner fender. Espesially with as much rain as we get. You don't want your MAF getting wet.
Oh, and a boost guage will help to diagnose those problems more quickly.

I was plannin on pullin the liner from my wrecked car (that thing really comes in handy!) and I plan on gettin a boost gauge and MBC at either the end of this week or next week....
It has some other boost issues...
The PO also had the wrong lines hooked up to the wrong side of the boost silenoid so it pulled hella hard just... hit fuel cut and that wasnt good I got that fixed thanks to Vikashs vacuum line diagram.

No... I dont love wrecked Subarus...
Anyways... My MAF did get wet...
It was sputtering under hard acceleration... NOT GOOD!
I wasnt sure the problem yet so I hooked the turbo back up to run on wastegate boost. Then i retried it... Still no better, only slower... huh
Then thought about the maf...
So I completely removed all the intake stuff, and sure enough, there was a lot of condesation in there...
I pulled the maf, which was wet and cleaned it off with Q-Tips (works great, just BE CAREFUL!! Those tips look really brittle).
Then I found an extra 90* rubber intake hose that normally goes from the airbox to the resinator. And i mangled it so it fit into the hole that the snorkus hooks up to so I had a 90* Elbow in the liner-less fender. Then i aimed it away from wheel so. No more water has gotten in there... YAY!!
So I went for a drive... AND IT WORKS!! YAY
I'll take some pictures probably tomorrow so you know what I mean for sure.
I'm really glad I got it fixed... So much better!

What code did you throw and what was the location of the hose you replaced?
just kidding, im going to check my maf because i bet that's what is going on, since i lost my fender liner awhile ago.
