Now that everything in my engine compartement is in great shape I'm finally in a position to tie up the few loose ends in the cabin from swapping heater cores.
One of those loose ends is an airbag light that won't go off. I tried to do the whole collar reset when I put the wheel back on and it seemed to line up correctly. The center arrow was over the words center and 'looked' right. I also hooked up the connectors back to the airbag itself.
However, the airbag light won't go off. Is there a way that I can put the system into a diagnostic scan to determine what isn't functioning properly?
Searching has only turned up various posts about the airbag and nothing about diagnostics.
Thanks in advance.

I've just met a new acquaintance, a mechanic who is a shop steward, that has worked with many airbag systems although he hasn't done a Subaru yet. He says to properly diagnose any airbag glitch, one will need the "dummy" airbag that ONLY the dealer has. And that dummy airbag is super expensive and a dealer-only item. At least with the systems he has worked with he said that attempting to test the circuitry of the airbag system will very likely make it deploy.
I know nothing of the airbag system and perhaps testing the circuitry versus running a diagnostic on it are two different things . . . I don't know. But I thought I'd post what I was told.
