Removing hoodscoop

Post by LegacyT »

Anyone else have difficulty removing the scoop on turbo models? I notice the little studs are pressure fit into the plastic scoop, and all the nuts are seized on mine. So the hole stud turns, argh! Anybody found a good way to get the nuts off???

PB Blaster BEFORE you try to remove them the first time.

If they are already spinning, your pretty much screwed. What I did was to gently put upwards pressure on the scoop while spinning the studs. This spins them out, but should do it cleanly.

After the scoop is off, you will have all the studs and nuts still attatched to the hood. From there you can use Channel Locks or Vice Grips to help you remove the nuts and free the studs from the hood.

Then it's a simple matter of choosing a proper epoxy and glueing the studs back into the scoop.
