Competition Clutch

Post by screemingbark »

Just in case anyone was wondering, Competition Clutch seems to be a good company. I got one of their clutch kits for my 91' Legacy Sport 5MT. There is one very HUGE problem with their clutch kit though, the 5MT pressure plate is pull style, but the one in the kit is push style. On Monday I will be calling them to try and resolve this issue. I wasn't too sure where to post this though.

I guess in the reviews section? Not sure this is really a review though.

Did you emphasize that yours was a turbo? You might have a nonturbo clutch kit.

Yes, I did specify that my car was the turbo model and the woman on the phone checked the website and verified that the stage 1 clutch kit would work correctly with my vehicle. I guess I will find out what's going to happen on Monday. I had opened the clutch packaging in prep to remove the old one and install the new one. I'm not too sure of whether I can send the old one back because Competition Clutch states that the clutch kit must be unopened to return it, but their company verified that it was for my vehicle.

I called Competition Clutch today. The gentlemen on the phone realized exactly what I was talking about and the issue was immediately resolved. I pay shipping of my first kit back to Georgia and in return Competition Clutch sends me a brand new CORRECT kit, which costs more, free of charge+free shipping. Well, I'm happy with their customer service. I can't wait to see how their product performs...

Well, my clutch was shipped back to them on Tuesday. It arrived there today. They called and told me that they received it and also asked me if it was ok to upgrade my clutch disk to a stage 2 for free. My obvious answer was yes! That saved me about 80$, not to mention the pressure plate was upgraded to an STi pressure plate since they don't make a "Legacy Turbo" pressure plate.
