ej22t short block markings?

Post by magicmike »

Just curious, how can you tell for sure that the block is in fact the turbo block without taking it apart. From what I can see it only says ej22 on the block and I'm assuming the N/A ej22 would have the same stamping. I've searched for pictures or differences for both but I'd just like to know for sure as I don't have the full history of this motor that came out of my wagon.

Thanks,

Mike

Look for cross-hatching on the top of the block, and ribs cast into the starter hump. If you see those, it should be a closed-deck block.
