PP6 Bridging Plug - Details?

Post by skid542 »

So, while cleaning up the Radio Flyer I found the bridging plug for the PP6 that I've been missing. I'm assuming it'st the plug as it has Perfect Power on it and it has the right connector with several of the pins 'shorted' via the PCB. It also has a small LED on it.

So my question is simple, do I just plug this thing in and go? Does it give a true 'stock ECU' tune? Since the PP6 isn't plugged in I'm assuming the answer is yes but I didn't want to do anything stupid at this point in the game.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I apparently need to do some more reading on how that little do-hickey works. I plugged it in this morning and the car harldly even wanted to start. I guess I'm going to have to break down and learn the manual for the PP6. I am still open to thoughts/experiences though.

Mods - I realized after I posted this that it should probably reside in the electical forum. Please feel free to move it if you see fit.

The jumper plug just bridges all the connections, returning the car to stock wiring. The car should run with it plugged in. My car runs and idles fine on stock ecu with 550cc injectors.

One thing that migh be causing your car to run bad with the jumper is the learned trims by the stock ECU. When running the PP6, the stock ECU is always fighting with it and trying to trim fuel. If you just plug in the jumper without disconnecting the battery, the car might have issues running on the learned behavior.

Try to reset the ECU, plug in the jumper and see what happens.

Ah, okay. I was thinking that's how the plug was supposed to work but when the little LED came on and the engine didn't want to run I was a little concerned. I'll reset the ECU and give it a go again.

Thank you for the help.

Yes...assuming everything was wired correctly, and all stock MAF, injectors, etc are there, the bridging plug should return everything to stock.

Like macipusy mentioned though, you may need to reset the ECU.

The LED should come on when bridged.
