Post by teaguespeed »

so the impreza sti 22b has a 2.2 liter engine. does anyone know how similar this engine is to that found in legacy turbos?

IIRC, the 22b was a stroked 2.0L. I think it was also semi-opened deck. Don't quote me on that though.

I seriously doubt the engines are the same, however, I think the 2.2L and 2.0L has the same bore, which would make me think the strokes are different. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Definitely different heads on the 22B and USDM EJ22Ts.

I know there was a SOHC version of the 22b and a later, DOHC version. I mean, our block is damn good. I don't see why they wouldn't use it for the 22b. I know if I let STi attack my engine, I'd come out of it with at least 350 hp.

I'm workin on it . . .

Once I get those STi injectors, I SHOULD be in the neighborhood of 300+ crank hp.

the 22b engine used the same ej22t closed deck block that is found in the us legacy turbo. they used mainly vf 22 and vf 23 turbos. they were not a stroked ej20. they did use different internals and as near as I can tell ver 4 sti heads. oh and I am at 350 hp. vf 23 is in. along with a blitz fmic.

That's awesome Kelly!! Do you have a dyno sheet? I'm interested to see how the powerband differs from the wrxs with similar mods.

hey boost junkie. I've been tryin to get adam at z1 to send me info in the over 75 sti parts that are available for the bc. among them are 800cc drop in side feed injectors. I really wish somebody would give me that info. my car needs lots of new parts.

Hehe. Yeah, he's been telling me he'd send me the parts info too . . . Still no parts sheets  You might want to ask somebody from Rallispec about the injectors. www.rallispec.com.
