revscan connection

Post by Dynamic Entry »

OK, so I did some searches but this is the only thread that I dug up regarding problems getting revscan to connect, and tbh it doesn't actually deal with that issue.

I can't get revscan to connect with my ECU

My laptop doesn't have a battery so I borrowed my GFs mini10 and installed revscan on it.

I connected the revtronix serial port cable to the yellow connector under my dash that is the same shape. with the car on I plugged the USB end of the cable into the netbook

the netbook instantly says 'found new hardware' but then prompts a wizard to search for a program to run it.
also, Windows doesn't seem to recognize anything is there since in My Computer no external drives show up

when I launch Revscan, the field labeled 'Port' is blank and the dropdown is empty.

the 'Protocol' is filled with: SSM OBD1 and 'Vehicle' reads: Legacy SS.

cancelling the Log Setup allows revscan to open, but when I click connect nothing happens.

do I need more drivers or anything else to accompany the Revscan program? I tried all three USB ports on the Dell and it is always the same.

I will try to borrow another laptop to cross reference but hoped someone could correct me in the meantime.

cheers boys
Andrew

did you also install the usb driver provided by revscan? it was a sperate zip/exe

USB driver.

revscan logger.
http://www.revtronix.com/sites/default/ ... EVScan.zip

note: someone may want to save these just in case revtronix's website goes down again and host them if needed. ;-)

beauty, works like a charm now, thanks for the help

really fun to watch the scan

my next question is how people are viewing the logs. Is there another program needed? My comp opens it in Notepad and it is an indecipherable list of numbers.

I feel way off the back on this stuff....

Microsoft Excel automatically interprets the CSV (comma separated value) document into nice columns....

Word of warning, due to the subaru SSMI protocol limitation, you can only log a few parameters (less than 6) before you loose all granularity in the logs. You'll see what I mean in time...
