Check Engine Light Plus Bad Consumption

Hi I am quite new to this DIY but also quite eager to Learn so I have two major problems with my car
a
Legacy Mi with a Forester Version 4 engine (the kind with the td04 turbo)

My two problems are the car is consuming heavily even when I try and drive as much as possible off boost its doing between 4 (kilometers / l) = 9.40858333 miles per gallon and 5 (kilometers / l) = 11.7607292 miles per gallon


another problem is when I boost say for say a minute or any measure near that I get the check engine light comes on after which goes off after switching the car off...

Running the u8 ecu and I have a upped my boost using the wastegate .

Has the car always been like this, or did it just start happening recently?
