Hey folks,
I need a new muffler for my wagon. It's not a turbo and all I really need to do is replace the muffler b/c its rusting out in one spot really badly. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend more than I have to, which might be interpreted as; I should just get a stock muffler. Subie genuine parts are kinda pricy in general, so I wonder if there is an after market alternative for a better price?
I do NOT want any freaking "rice" muffler suggestions. The last thing I need is a 5 gallon bucket hanging down underneath the grocery-getter. (I hope no one takes offense to the "rice" comment, I think you all know what I mean by use of that term. If you are uncomfortable with my use of the term - my sincerest appology in advance. What I'm trying to imply by use of "rice" is a stereotype of a car with huge graphics and stickers, a massive muffler, tinted headlights, really nice rims, and NO engine/performance modifications. All show - no go - type cars, usually Hondas - I think you know what I'm talking about by now, but its a helluva lot easier to just say "rice" ;o)
Some day I would like to up the wagon to a turbo engine, but I know it will be some time away and more money than I'd like to spend at the moment. Point: I'd like to get a muffler that I can hang onto if I do that project. Catch my drift? (oohhh bad pun!). If I replace the muffler now, there is a good chance the muffler will still be 100% by the time I get to that project. It would be a shame to have to replace a muffler twice...
Let me know what you think. I'll be spending most of the a.m. searching the archives for previous posts.
Best,
-Sambo
