oil weights (was: ticking)

Post by jason grahn »

Go with the factory recommendation, 10w30 or 10w40. I think it says that in
the owners manual too. Another bonus is that 10w30 and w40 are cheaper then
the 15w40 and the 5w40 where i go to get oil.

oil weights (was: ticking)

Post by Ricky »

I don't think its the oil weight becoz before the oil change i did
last time, it still had the ticking sound... even though i don't know
what oil weight the last owner used, it would probably be the
reccomended 5W30 or 10W30... I bought my car used around 5000KM ago,
so i have no idea what oil was previously used.. My next oil change
is coming up soon, i will change to 5W30 and see what happens.. also,
should i change to synthetics? because i heard that if an engine that
has been using dino oil for a while, but suddenly changed to
synthetics, it might cause some problems.. thanks for the help guys.

Dave, i still haven't changed my wastegate solenoid. :-( but i don't
think thats the problem becoz it was always like that ever since i
bought the car... ahh.. i still need new brake pads which i ordered
already but haven't been paid for before i could get the solenoind...
