engine gets very heavy

Post by ugaucin »

My engine gets very heavy when I try to step on it. If I press the pedal more then half way from a stop, it becomes very heavy and the revs go up very slowly. Anyone else have this problem?

Can you please elaborate what you mean by getting very "heavy". Also, provide model and any other info about the car. Have you checked the ECU for codes?

I would recommend clearing the codes, drive the car, and then see what comes back. the coolant temp sensor (code 21) is a likely cause for your problems. It may be telling the ECU an incorrect temperature and the ECU is causing it to deliver more fuel, which could cause it to bog.

Its actually code 22. I put on A new knock sensor and the code is gone. But on my touring wagon has the 21 code. It bogs out pretty bad and its not giving me any HP. Replaced the knock sensor on the wagon also

So which is it, code 21 or 22? If you are getting code 21 replace the coolant temp sensor, if you are getting code 22 replace the knock sensor.

It was the knock sensor. I replace it, my legacy is running much better now. Thanks for the help.
