Does 4EAT have its own separate computer running it?

Does 4EAT have its own separate computer running it?

Does the shift pattern logic, and torque converter clutch control exist on a computer which is independent of the Engine ECU?

Yes, it's the TCU, or Transmission Control Unit. It runs into the ECU.
