Vss help/advice please...

Post by alexandermf »

Sooo after just swapping to manual and trying to thread in the speed sensor to tranny the cable snapped(the hard plastic part) toward the base of the sensor. Now the metal cable inside is actually fine but I know how sensitive these things can be on our cars. From the pics do you think I can still try and use or not? I'm not worried completely cuz I have a perfect spare! But... If I have to swap the whole thing because the small break at the end it'll be a pita to have to go through the dash/cluster as opposed to just trying to still thread it in and work.

As you can kinda see the metal coil/netting didn't break and the inner cable is fine, just the hard plastic shelling at base broke, I can still wiggle the end of the sensor and see the Speedo needle still move slightly meaning its still connected technically

My main concern would be moisture getting in there and rusting/corroding over time. You can try taping it up or using heat shrink with an internal lining that seals the connection.
