No speedo after 5mt swap??

Ok so my speedo does not work after doing my 5mt swap....

The trans is out of a 96 outback thats got the speedo sensor in it.

So all i did was unscrew it and screw in the cable one from my 4eat.

The cable may or may NOT have moved in and out of the cable sheath.

From what im thinking. The cable is not quite in the speedo.

Could i have done something wrong?

It's tricky to get just right since it's slotted. Probably either came out of the back of your gauge cluster (easy to check) or it just wasn't seated properly when you put the adaptor on.

I know the base pieces that screw into the AT & MT transmissions are different, however I don't know if they are interchangable. If you can't get the AT base piece to work, you'll need to get one from a 5MT.

Perfect!

Im going to hope and try to fig out the dam cable this weekend.

Im going to try the behind the cluster idea 1st.

Then start trying out other things.

I also did swap the base plate from the AT trans onto the MT trans.

And on the different note.

I noticed that the trans crossmember rubs on the exhaust downpipe.

So when it touch the gas it likes to BANG upside the trans member.

Its again out of the same 96 outback, with a 98 leg GT front section due to the fact that the 96 OB had 1 inch spacers to change the trans angle.

Can i just use a different mount out of a 2000 impreza RS? I do have a guy willing to part with his trans crossmember if it does work!!!

Yes, the 2000 Impreza MT crossmember should work fine.
