Bigger injectors, with NA MAF to lean it out..

Post by robertpaige »

I have thought about something. I know that on an SS, running the NA MAF will cause a lean condition unless you have some type of engine management.. What if I installed the 440's, and an NA MAF to lean out some of that fuel. Would that in theory work? Just a thought.

Unless you've already researched how much the 440 enrichen things at different rpms, and how much the NA MAF leans things at different rpms, that's a very bad idea. The signals are nonlinear and the variance between the 370 and 440 injects, and the NA and turbo MAF are not the same. But hey, it could be a magic combo.

It was just a random thought, I'm not willing to try it until my wideband shows up. But maybe this might work. Haha

Is there a way around the wrong MAF CEL on the stock setup?

IIRC, there is a wire on the MAF you swap/ground out to stop the CEL.

I thought I answered this for someone not too long ago.

The simple answer is it won't work. As previously mentioned the MAF response curves are non-linear and swapping MAF's & injectors won't work without some sort of tuning.

....and just to add. I tried this on my '90 Twagon. I 'think' I posted on here back ~'10. Ran LEAN even w/480cc injectors and the JECS MAF on the stock EJ22T ECU. I had a Innovate WB and the AFRs were not safe. At All.
