Re: fuel pressure trick?
i have heard of people doing this, i dont see why it wouldnt work on our cars if it works on wrx's, as we have the same fueling system.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
Can't say for certain that all the early FPRs are the same style as the new ones, but all the ones I've seen look the same. That's a neat trick.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
That was a wrx regulator pictured. It's different looking than ours to a degree. I don't think you should just dive into it, maybe you should have a backup first in case something goes wrong.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
I'm skeptical of modifying something so crucial to the health of your engine. If something goes wrong, it could lean out super bad and burn up your valves and or pistons. The ej22ts have the same pressure valves as NA, but if you want a higher pressure one, the JDM turbo engines from the 90s have ones rated about 7psi higher stock.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
sweet. trien to do budget mods on the subie. getting stuff here and there. few more parts and i'll be done
Re: fuel pressure trick?
Why not spend the money to just get a Walbro or decent fuel pump? If you're not having any fueling or lean conditions there's no reason to do this.
If you do this "mod" on the FPR you will also affect the fuel pressure when not in boost, and that can affect fuel economy and possibly other drivability issues. I personally wouldn't suggest doing this.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
I've seen this before too. Sounds like a bad idea. It's right up there with turbocharing an NA engine without doing anything to upgrade your injectors or change your engine management to handle the extra fuel and maps.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
That pump should be providing more than enough fuel for you. Just because someone does a mod doesn't necessarily make it a "good" mod. So unless you are experiencing fueling issues, I'd just keep this little nugget of information in the back of your mind if you have an issue in the future.

Re: fuel pressure trick?
i think the new pump works to good lol the car seems a bit more peppy
Re: fuel pressure trick?
The FPR trick really makes no sense when I read the thread. They want to get more headroom from their injectors, so they take a hammer to the FPR and risk running higher pressure than the pump will handle, then they have to retune for the change. Vs backing off the boost a hair, or just getting a set of injectors to handle their target power.
FWIW my ej20g and ej25d FRP looks exactly like the WRX one with the dimple.
