No, there's no reason to change the cable. The speedo gear in the transmission may be off though, but changing that requires opening the transmission.

Lucesdisco: Don't you have an electronic speedo? It will say 'electronic' on cluster if it is. I dont believe the Japanese legacys got electronic Speedos.

Its a JDM 180KM from a 2.0 TZ Wagon. Not electronic, normal speedometer, my speedo goes to 240km from a Touring Wagon GL 1.8 EDM.
