Can you swap driver's and passenger's seats?

Post by crushn8r »

Just curious, can put the drivers seat in the passengers spot and vice versa on a 92 L wagon? If so would they sit squarely or would they be angled or positioned off center?

I'm like 99% sure the answer is yes but I'm pretty sure the seat bases are distinct from the actual seats and those have to stay where they are. I can check my parts stash tonight.

Awesome, much appreciated. I know doing this would put the seatback adjusters on the inside behind the seatbelt assembly, but I'm the only driver, so set it and forget it.

It looks like this was a commuter car for one person (one large person) and the passenger seat is minty fresh. My butt is saggin'

The seat bases themselves are very much asymmetrical but the seats un-bolt from the bases at the corners and the bolt pattern looks symmetrical.

I'll be obvious once you've got the seats out of the car and upside down.

As mentioned the rails/bases of the seats are different and are not interchangeable.

I think you'll find trying to remove the seats from the bases may prove a little difficult because the recline mechanism/lever is going to be on the wrong side, and that lever is part of the plastic base trim.

What are you trying to accomplish by swapping sides?
