Bump Stops

Post by legacy_productions@yahoo. »

I just ordered my suspension peices from Mike at
spdusa.com(KYB AGX Struts, Eibach Springs, STi Upper Strut
Mounts), While talking to him, he recomended ordering a new
set of bump stops from my dealer to replace the worn ones. But
when I called my dealer and asked the parts department about
them he didn't know what they were and I didn't have a part
number to tell him. My questions are: A. Are all Subaru dealers
like this? B. What are the part numbers for the bump stops for a
'92 Legacy Turbo Sedan (all Four Corners) and C. Anyone know
of any place I can get them from quick? Any help is appreciated

Bump Stops

from what i've seen(wasn't really looking for them keep in mind) but
when i was replacing my balljoint(same make and model and even year
of legacy) i didn't happen to notice any bump stops. i'm pretty sure
i know what to look for cause my '92 nissan pathfinder had them and
everytime you'd turn the wheel real sharp and hit a bump it'd make a
loud screech from the bump stop rubbing metal to metal. i could have
overlooked them though as i wasn't really looking for anything but
what i needed to(balljoint, knuckle, etc..)

no, no, no... The bumpstop is an orange rubbery-foam piece.. Depending on
how many miles you have on your car, it's definitly a good idea to get some
new ones. I'd say anything over 50k since you're doing all the suspension
bits.

Best bet is to call a dealership that's really close to a distribution
center they can get stuff the quickest. The number to Royal Moore in
Hillsboro, OR (who i go to for ALL my parts) is 503-648-1153. You have to
ask for the Subaru parts conter though. Talk to Richard. He'll let you know
whatever there is to know.

Bump Stops

The bump stops on the earlier legacies is actually a foam type thingy. I
know when I replaced my struts around 80k miles, the foam was all
deteriorated. Get a new set of bump stops and boots. KYB makes a set I
believe. That's what I got for mine. They weren't exactly cheap cheap,
maybe 20 a piece. I got all my struts and bump stops and shit through a
place in Kirkland, WA Omni Brake and Alignment. He did my alignment too.
The guy I talked to is Pat.

here's there info

OMNI BRAKE & ALIGNMENT
11908 124TH AVE NE, KIRKLAND, WA 98034
Phone: (425)823-1511

They are good place was recommended by a friend who runs a speed shop in
Everett. They know there shit. At the time, that was the only place I
could find KYB GR2's. However that was 4+ years ago.

Give them a call, he should be able to help you out.

Bump Stops

Subaru actually list these as 'helpers', why..... who knows.
They are on the top of strut shaft, you can see them if you look under the
plastic cover which fits over the strut shaft.
