Im now the super emissions NINJA!! hehe

Post by ciper »

Yes, today I get justification for taking such good care of my car.

Currently with the 155k mile old exhaust and a K&N that hasnt been cleaned for 10k miles.

The dang guy made me remove the MSD DIS. That was a pain in the ass, especially after waiting almost an hour in line

Here are the results, as you will see I did VERY well...

2500 rpm test
HC MAX:140 MINE:7
CO MAX:1.00 Mine 0.01 !!*

The RPM stayed between 2497 and 2503, 6 rpm difference is pretty good

IDLE test 700 rpm
HC MAX:120 MINE: 11
CO MAX:1.00 MINE: 0.01 !!*

*The guy said my CO readings are the lowest possible number that his machine will show, so basically it can almost be thought of as zero :)

One thing I noticed is that the factory tach is fairly accurate. When showing 2500 rpm the machine was reading 2500 rpm (inductance through plug 1).

Also the half ticks are 500 rpm EXCEPT the first one. The first one is actually the IDLE rpm which is 700 rpm exactly on mine

Why did he make you take off the MSD......I guess I'll have to remember to bring my bypass plug for the MSD unit if I ever have to get the car emissions tested. I think mine would pass fine.

Utah is a LOT more lenient, even though they have dyno tests in SLC county (no problem, i'm not in SLC county and they don't have 4wd models yet), and that the person who's doing the test is a friend.

Mine passed very well with NO cats and everything i have on right now, with 126k miles.

Take care of them and they take care of you.

BTW, the DIS should actually improve emissions, and i'm almost certain that it's CARB exempt.

Ahhh, it's so nice living in FL, where you can take your cat off, either run leaded gas or burn oil instead of gasoline, and no one gives a rat's ass!

I couldnt use the bypass plug.

I even reconnected the coil directly and he still wouldnt.

I removed all the DIS wiring and set it on top of the batter (12 volt and ground still running to it). He STILL wouldnt test me.

I had to completly remove it from his vision before he would do it

If you'd had the CARB sticker in the engine bay somewhere, he'd have to eat it.

Take it somewhere else next time...
