Does anyone know if a 1992 legacy L auto tranny will
fit in a 1991 legacy sport auto?
also are the drive shafts interchangeable?

Sure, it should. Subaru has only made 3 transmission cases to date. Early,
(to 97) late (after 97 to present) and their 6spd for the rest of the world
(IE not US or Canada). This applies only to after MY90...

92 and 91 tranny swap?
Yes, but it wouldn't be as strong as the original Turbo trans.
Basically, the SVX and Turbo share the same trans, which was beefed
up for the 230hp in the SVX and the torque of the SVX/Turbo.
If you're looking for a fix to last, you'd be better off to find a
low-mileage auto or perhaps a 5MT swap.
But, yes, it will work.
