Finally !!!

Finally, if nothing changes... i solved my problem !! yahou !

today it was a warm, no-wind, day... so i decided to take a look a 2-3 things on the car.

First, the alternator & powersteering pump. Removed the belt and turned them to see if they was not jammed. everything ok.

So i moved to the other side of the engine. Took a look at my temp. probe, it was going out of the intake! the clue was not working.. so removed it to reglue-it. I took a look at the knock sensor to see if the connector was ok.. NOOOOTTTTT ... the wire was cracked and all dirty :

So i decided to go ahead and change that connector, and also the 2 ones located under the intake, like another one did here (and solved his prob...)

After completion,

took the car for a test-drive, and DAMN, call was pulling great, almost as strong as when i unplug the BOV Hose !!! whaaa , 11psi and no hesitations at all ! :)

Finally..! hehe



Near the turbo, the "wire arnest" was all melted ... but not the wires in it, so i removed them from there.. finally, that big chimney seems to be usefull !! guys who removed it should take a close look at it !!

That makes me want to take a look at the wiring for my knock sensor. I don't even know if I've got the updated one. :?

Yes, check your wiring condition. After inspecting my old sensor (I always hang onto old parts and examine them, don't know why :P ), but I was able to grab the sensor itself, and then the connector, and twist the wire off either end with relative ease, so my wiring was pretty shot...

Needless to say I threw that out afterwards :lol:

Is the Haynes correct when it comes to replacing this thing? It says that you have to drain the coolant, because it'll come out when you pull the sensor off. That doesn't sound like something I really want to mess with in my driveway!

I've only had the car for a month and a half, so I don't know if the previous owner(s) had the sensor changed. I'm definitely going to check it today.

i've removed it to change it, and removed it back again yesterday to re-do the connector, and neither the times i saw coolant come out of the hole.. but i remember that the nut had some white stuff in the threads.. so maybe there is coolant in that area.

just be carefull to keep the nut into the sensor when you remove it, cuz it's not easy to play in that area :)

The Haynes says you hafta take the intake manifold off, and yes that you would spill coolant...

I HATE MY HAYNES MANUAL!!!

The sensor comes in no contact with coolant in any shape or form, you won't see a drop of it.

Look straight down from where your throttle cables attach to the throttle body, and you should see the sensor bolted to the block. You can get at the bolt with an extension...

Have a magnet reacher handy b/c you will probably drop the bolt in the engine (like me :oops: ) , and you'll need it to put the new sensor on, to put the bolt in the hole while you twist and contort your hand into a position to hold the sensor. Just take your time and be patient, it's not hard to do...

I did it in my workplace parking lot, on the clock :lol:

:D Unfortunately I don't have anything else, so I've gotta accept it to some degree. But that's why I love this place!!

humm, just went riding / drifting in the fresh snow and.... Problem if defenitely solved ! the car has a lot of power and damn it sounds great (despite the two leaks in the manifold and uppipe.. hehe )

Yup... definitely, I LOVE that car now !! hehe

could'nt help to resists taking the car back for a little ride in the snow, and Damn, it's quick ! Now it feels a lot more like my 2.5RS, almost equal in power, and i was only pushing 9psi.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the first pic :D . I know I have the white connector, but who knows... maybe it's all funked up like that one.
