Rebuild engine; Or???
My car (92 Legacy turbo) just had the main Crank bearing worn out and
the crank push toward to the crank pully ,it made a huge oil leak.
My mechanic help me to replace the crank seals and make the car back
to the road!
He offers me to swap the other ej22t engine or either rebuild the
engine!
Does it worth for rebuild the current engine or replace a used engine
to make the job easier?
Or the other options like; find an WRX (GC) engine to replace to my
car?
My car currently running 235000km on the clock , good body, replaced
AGX suspension, 19mm rear swaybar, Cusco front lower arm bar, Apex-i
AVC-R, HKS turbo timer, but have very limited budget! (-n-)
Would like to hear from you guys!
Please gives me some your opinion!

If you're on a very limited budget, you should see what your different
options case before you ask for opinions. Rebuilding the engine will be
nice, but it will take time. Putting in a new ej22t will be quick but most
likely expensive. putting in an ej20t will be quick and probably cheaper
then the ej22.
Check your options, you've got plenty. I would suggest not driving on that
engine if it's possible.

Have you checked on the price of a new short block ? They did have a
good price on them not too long ago. The problem with a n/a block is
that boost would be very limited (6-8 lbs)unless you replaced the
pistons. And if your going to replace pistons why not a 2.2t with
forged pistons ? That is my plan if anything bad happens. (2.2t
forever) AL(CO)

It -most likely- will be cheaper. I'm not saying that it defnitly will be.
The reason is because North America was the only place to really see the
ej22t in production (not counting the 22B). everywhere else has been using
the ej20 since 1989; thus they are more plentiful and therefor less
expensive - most likely-.
Again, check the net, call some people. You're going to have to make the
final call and it all boils down to the $$ you wanna spend.

Does anyone know what the differences between the U.S.
Turbo 2.2 and the 22B are? Would it be feasable to get
ahold of 22B engine parts or is it just wishfull
thinking? Would be kinda cool to have a 22B engine
with all Subaru/STi/Prodrive parts.
