Except for a K&N filter, I run a stock intake on my 92 USA Turbo Sedan. A few days ago, the nipple that catches blow-off from the compressor bypass valve snapped off of the rubber elbow that joins the plastic resonator box to the intake of the turbocharger. This of course caused a massive air intake hole downstream of the air flow senso so the car wouldn't run. I did an emergency repair by pinching off both hoses on the CPV and glued a "saddle patch" made of radiator hose over the hole in the elbow. I couldn't find a used one at a wrecking yard and the dealer wants $100 and one week to get one.
Although I have a number of other modifications, I have always avoided a custom intake because most other systems I have observed (mostly on Imprezas) have had problems including....MAF sensor death, excessive intake noise, intake system drinks your oil, sucks hot air from engine compartment....etc.
Whereas I am already down $100 and have to do something, I would like to explore my options. What is out there at what price and does it include that final elbow to the turbo?
Also, does anyone have the stock elbow for sale?
