Help diagnosing problem / mpg etc.

1991 legacy sport sedan auto 130,000 miles bought at 128,000


Problems I am having before replacing anything and after –
- Poor gas mileage. 13-15mpg regardless of type of driving ( I use 92+ oct)
- Sometimes it seems that its not laying all of its power to the ground as it does other times… seems like it wants to but can’t
- Sometimes after driving for a while and I just let it idle every so often I will get an erratic vibration from the engine.. Almost like a shutter. It idles below 400rpm. I tried to adjust it with that screw but it’s all the way in.
- I checked the ecu for codes. I get the codes for o2 sensor and temp sensor.
- I disconnected the battery for 20 hours and tried it again. Same 2 errors even after the 02 sensor.


Here is what I have replaced dealing with under the hood components-
- UR pulley
- Pcv valve
- Fuel filter
- Oil filter
- Oil change
- 02 sensor
- temp sensor (will be this Saturday 12/15/01)
- spark plugs
- spark plug wires
- visually inspect spark coil pack
- replaced a few turbo breather tubes
- checked hose connections and sensor sockets


Notes: according to my el-cheapo boost gauge its about 8.5 max which is normal I think. I also tested some seals with carb cleaner to see if there was a leak. I didn’t notice anything. I have not noticed anything from any of these replacements (good or bad).


I know i posted this in the past but maybe someone might have some more ideas...


Any ideas? Ever seen this before? Anyone….

Sounds like it could be the fuel pump, my friend had the same prob!
