5MT Swap

I'm changing out the 5MT in my 91 Legacy turbo.

Is it necessary to remove the 10mm allen head plug on the driver's side of the tranny and pull the clutch release fork shaft (the one you screw a 6mm bolt into to remove) out of the tranny *before* removing from the car?
