EJ22T ECU Driving an EJ20G Engine (long)

Post by milehial2000 »

The pin locations are different but the individual pins in the plugs
can be moved. If you release the small retainers on the wire side of
the plug and insert a small pin like tool into the end that plugs into
the ECU the individual pin can be released, removed and inserted into a
different location or into some of the yellow plugs. On the engine
wiring I found that the best way to find out what wire goes where is
with a small multimeter and check all of them from the device plug to
the ECU. On the engine I am working on I found three extra wires
in the 1.8 harness that went to the engine plugs but stopped there and
were not used, these and the wires that were used on the 1.8 for FICD
and EGR I extended and used for the turbo control devices along with
two new sheilded wires (Teflon jacketed I can get this and it is worth
it for these items reliabilty let me know if you want some))for the
knock sensor and pressure sensor. Other than that about the only other
thing I can remember having to change is the wiring for the turbo
Legacy MAF. The extra wires can be pulled down from the engine
compartment all together by puncturing and making a small hole in the
rubber boot on the engine side and feeding a small solid wire first
and then pulling the other wires down behind the heater box. (yes a
little difficult but this can be done) One thing you will find changed
on the 1.8 harness is the grounding. the 1.8 has a common ground for
most things and this terminates with a red/green wire at the ECU on
the cars that I have seen. I have used this grounding system and tied
any extra ground wires together with no problem. This is about all I
have for now I will be finishing the last of this project in the
morning and will let you know if I find anything significant.
