Loss of power

Post by mtlrover »

1994 2.2turbo sedan. 146000km.
When I accelerate hard I get a kind of stumbling, loss of power, backfire. Apart from this the car runs like new, I changed the plugs, and wires. Thanks in advance. By the way I'm new to this site.

I'm speeking from what I've read and not from experience, but seafoam is a product that you run through the engine to remove carbon deposits and it also helps with worn piston rings.

I could be wrong, but at least someone eager to correct me might give you an answer.

I will be changing my engine sometime next week so I haven't worried too much about the one that's in there now, which seems to do exactly what you describe. I've searched quite a bit just out of curiousity and seems "hesitation" can be caused by MANY different things. Vaccum leaks, wires + plugs (don't use bosch, get NGKs), coil pack, faulty injector, and the list goes on. If you search a bit maybe you'll find others who have described a problem similar to yours.

Thanks for the responses. The problem seems to have worked itself out. It runs great, when I hit the gas it gets up and goes like new. Must have been something in the gas, cause it ran perfect after I filled her up. Thanks again.

Seafoam doesn't magically fix things like that...it just cleans stuff up a lil bit
