mystery connector
so under the passenger headlight there is a small connector that is the same style as the black under dash connector for checking codes in the engine. i have no clue what it's for
it was originally unplugged and i have plugged it in and unplugged it various times and have not noticed any difference. it seems to be attached to all the headlight wires and goes in the same protective sleeves so it looks to be an original wire on the car.
i'm just curious as to what this wire does so if you guys could check to see if you have such a connector running behind the passenger headlight and if you can figure out what it does that would solve one of this cars mysteries.
thanks
-Alex

Not sure, is it a "water tight" connector or just like the one under the dash?

nope nothing fancy not water tight and its only one wire i dont think i said that before. its just like the black connector under the dash.
i'll try and get the wire colour and match it up to a wiring diagram but who knows if that'll work

fan delay? so it makes the fan come on when the engine is hotter or cooler than normal? weird why would we want that...
thanks though its good to know

i dont think you understood what i was saying...
my motor doesn't over heat the fan still comes on and the connector is disconected but if you conect it i guess it is supposed to make the fan come on sooner than usual or later than usual, and so i said to that "why would we want that?" i wasnt saying why would we want the fan to run...
but yeah overheating sucks

I did some looking into this the other day. I'm pretty sure it's the sub fan short connector.
The radiator fans have two sets of windings in them I believe. Only power one set of windings, you get a slower speed. Power both sets, you get a faster speed.
Without the AC system, the short connector should be connected as to power both motor windings.
With the AC system, there's some question as to whether it should be connected, and whether the fans should operate independently or not. With the sub fan short connector disconnected they will operate independently. With it connected, the fans will operate together.
The sub fan also is two speeds, and has a pressure switch built into the pressure switch on the AC receiver drier. When pressure raises too high, the sub fan will kick into the higher speed.
So yeah....that's what that connector is.
Here's a diagram

That's probably not the same connector as the fan connector.
Look at the diagram I posted, connector F2 and its shape to see if it matches what you're looking at.

and.....what did it do? Do both fans come on at the same time?
