I was trying to decide on a good size for the hoses for fuel delivery purposes... I was thinking 6 AN would be fine, the only problem is I wanted to use these 90 degree fittings at the end of the rail, they are purple and match the theme I was going for but it looks like they only come in 10 AN...which IMO is waay too big. I just want this whole setup to be nice and clean looking, not convoluted or with tubes going everywhere...
I am going to use an aftermarket FPR but keep it in the same stock location if I can...everything else will just be a steel braided fuel hose, after the engine bay everything else will just be factory rubber hoses and hard lines...after all no one is going to see any of that crap.
I just wanted to use something that stands out, the purple would have been perfect, I am not too keen on the red/blue hose ends...I might just end up using the black anodized hose ends, I already have a few from the PS fluid cooler I was going to make for the 240sx so I might as well make good use of them, maybe I can get some cool colored braided hose or something.
I also really wanted to use an after market fuel rail or an unblemished one from a newer subaru....what exactly causes the STi rails to not fit??
AN6 is more or less the same size as the stock fuel lines. I'd recommend sticking with that size.....AN10 is WAY too big.
Are you doing this purely for aesthetics or for another reason? It sounds like you've worked with AN fittings before, and in my personal opinion....it sucks! They are a pain in the butt to work with toe get the fittings on the hose, and don't really lend themselves to work well in tight spaces, when compared to rubber hose.
If you're just doing it for the aesthetics, see if you can find some braided SS covers to go over the stock lines. I don't know....it's a lot of work and money (those fittings and hose are not cheap!) for essentially the same function as the stock fuel system.
Regarding the newer or STi fuel rails, they just don't physically fit into the mounting location on our manifolds. It's like putting a square block in a round hole, it just doesn't work....there's not much to explain. You might try and make an adapter or fab something up to make them work, but I couldn't tell you how well that would work and how it would fit.
