I was trying to decide on a good size for the hoses for fuel delivery purposes... I was thinking 6 AN would be fine, the only problem is I wanted to use these 90 degree fittings at the end of the rail, they are purple and match the theme I was going for but it looks like they only come in 10 AN...which IMO is waay too big. I just want this whole setup to be nice and clean looking, not convoluted or with tubes going everywhere...

I am going to use an aftermarket FPR but keep it in the same stock location if I can...everything else will just be a steel braided fuel hose, after the engine bay everything else will just be factory rubber hoses and hard lines...after all no one is going to see any of that crap.

I just wanted to use something that stands out, the purple would have been perfect, I am not too keen on the red/blue hose ends...I might just end up using the black anodized hose ends, I already have a few from the PS fluid cooler I was going to make for the 240sx so I might as well make good use of them, maybe I can get some cool colored braided hose or something.

I also really wanted to use an after market fuel rail or an unblemished one from a newer subaru....what exactly causes the STi rails to not fit??

AN6 is more or less the same size as the stock fuel lines. I'd recommend sticking with that size.....AN10 is WAY too big.

Are you doing this purely for aesthetics or for another reason? It sounds like you've worked with AN fittings before, and in my personal opinion....it sucks! They are a pain in the butt to work with toe get the fittings on the hose, and don't really lend themselves to work well in tight spaces, when compared to rubber hose.

If you're just doing it for the aesthetics, see if you can find some braided SS covers to go over the stock lines. I don't know....it's a lot of work and money (those fittings and hose are not cheap!) for essentially the same function as the stock fuel system.

Regarding the newer or STi fuel rails, they just don't physically fit into the mounting location on our manifolds. It's like putting a square block in a round hole, it just doesn't work....there's not much to explain. You might try and make an adapter or fab something up to make them work, but I couldn't tell you how well that would work and how it would fit.

yes I have worked with them before, i figured AN 10 was too big and might cause low pressure...mostly this is going to be for aesthetics, but also they last forever...also I never really had any trouble with the ones I have used, just remember some of them are reverse threads when you are putting the hoses on the barb ends...you are right about them being pricey when compared to rubber hoses....but when you look down in the engine bay and see all that niceness done properly you can't help but admire it, and it functions so it isn't ricey or anything...the main reason I am doing this though is because my fuel lines are all rotting away, the only thing that isn't is the rail itself and the FPR looks ok....but as you said, if I want to use 04 STi top feeds I need a different rail, I might just stick with the N/A legacy rails, but if you look at the 04 STi injectors they are actually clocked different than the NA leggy ones...not sure if that really matters as I have seen plenty of people here run those no problem it is just something I noticed in my research

But yeah this is mostly a pricey replacement that will catch the eye....but it's functional :smt025

Next order of business before I jump into the fuel rail and injectors is to finish the suspension and stop the fuel leak I have at my tank. I need basically EVERY bushing in this thing replaced, so I have opted to try and find an entire rear subframe with all the arms attached and hopefully with somewhat fresh bushings...I am looking at the 04 STi rear member and the arms, preferably the pink STi ones, I want the lateral links and the trailing arms.

I am trying to avoid having to spend an assload of cash on these bushings and then spend hours upon hours pressing in bushings and burning out the old ones....I have done that before and it is a super mega bitch and if I was doing it for someone, they'd have to pay me over $1k because it just sucks that much balls to do....I am sure some of you know the joy of laboring on the bushing press. The ride quality is always superb but almost not worth the hours of BS...almost :)

I have priced out bushings versus just buying entire suspension members and sadly the bushings cost almost as much, so I wouldn't really mind spending the $50 extra and just bolt stuff on, plus it would look really fucking cool with all that STi pink stuff under there. I found all this stuff on ebay plus brembo brakes hubs, axles etc, but it is like $1800 plus shipping....if I could sell the brembo hubs and rotors for $1500 i'd totally do it...or just be greedy and keep it all BWAHAHAHA

I was under the impression that the color stamps on the springs mean what year/car they are from, i guess i will have to do some research on them...

Lol no need to be nervous. Keep trying on the td05's, I got mine for less than half of what they go for here. And it is mint, no shaft play, etc.

When looking for info on your rear struts keep in mind that the rear springs you have are NOT tapered. So you WON'T use 91 top hats. The ky agxs i just picked up have the same springs for the rear.

they are already installed dude, and the 02 STi tophats cannot be used on the 1st gen legacy, the mounting holes are completely different, you HAVE to use SS top hats, pretty sure 91-94 legacies share the same suspensions

Whoa i was just tryin to help... Only reason i said that is because the usdm 04 Sti struts and springs i have on my car right now i had to use 91 tophats because the rear springs are tapered... I know Sti stuff doesnt fit. I didn't know if that was full v7 stuff you had or not.

Was only trying to help.

You are correct, mine are not tapered, but you still need the legacy tophats, just wanted to carify I thought you were going to be doing this mod lol. Just wanted to save you a possible headache, the 02-04 STi suspensions are all interchangeable even if the spring designs differ slightly

Ahh nice :) I would be enjoying mine much more if every bushing in my car was not absolutely roasted lol. Seriously though, the rear end has so much slop I can't really get the rear end to wing out, even when it was snowy as fuck out yesterday....I mean even my NA RS no problem swinging the rear end out even when it's just wet out...I don't get it. Maybe b/c it is an AT it has some primitive TCS built in somehow?? I should have no problem sliding all around as I please in slush/snow....but the fucked thing is get this...in gravel or mud and can do all the sliding donuts etc I want...this really just doesn't make much sense to me...

anyway I finally got a picture of the straight pipe I made...I still need to unbolt it and weld it all together better..it is tough to completely weld your exhaust w/o taking it down to get it all nice nice.

sounds beasty as fuck..I love it , soon I am going to grab a catless DP w/ the separator plate

I was also thinking about trying the VLSD I have to see if that is it...still the Impreza drifts even with the open diff...the SS should be able to step out the rear no prob b/c of the extra kick in the ass from the turbo....any ideas anyone??

Open, the VLSD I got from you is still in the shed. it's just weird to me....no problem in the mud, but in a snow filled parking lot it was a total bitch and would NOT break traction worth of shit...I had to REALLY force it too...mind you I still have no use of my ebrake, but that has never stopped me in the RS, I can slide around 1/2 of a roundabout rotary intersection before I drop enough speed to regain traction, this thing should have no problem getting sideways....I'll see o do the rear end and the bushings etc...hopefully that will take out the slop and make a difference.

The RS also has a 25mm swaybar and coilovers...which helps obviously lol

no rubbing noises, I have some clunking due to bushings so it is tough to say for sure once I get the rear xmember in with new or at least better bushings i'll be able to tell you for sure.

Did you re-pack the rears with grease?

That's good you have no rubbing. The agxs i have, the previous owner obviously had a rubbing issue

I didn't put any grease on the top mount or on the springs, i imagine grease would allow rotational movement of the spring, I always thought of the spring as being stationary and only compressing..unless I am wrong, are you supposed to grease the struts? I honestly never heard of that..
