HOW-TO flush ATF fluid

I've just bought my car and the ATF is black.

How do I go about flushing it and what fluid should I use? The local Subaru dealer said that I would need about 8L of Castrol TQ95.

Also, what should I use for the Front (Open) /Rear (Viscous LSD) diffs, Castrol EPX 80/90W?

Id pay the money and ask Jiffey lube to use the T-Tech machine on it.

For the differentials I suggest Mobil 1 75-90 synth, which is available at most auto parts stores.

Can you use that Mobil 1 for both the front non-lsd diff and the rear viscous lsd?

I always thought you had to use a special LSD oil.

Has anyone used Redline D4 ATF?
How much of it would I need for a complete flush?

Whoever told you to use special LSD fluid needs a good punch in the face. The viscous LSD units are sealed, the lubrication is never supposed to get inside. Plain old dino can be used if you wish. I only suggest the Mobil because its low cost and easy to find.

I use redline D4 ATF in the transmisison and power stearing of one of my legacy.

Its not really possible to do a full flush except for the T-Tech machine I mention. Even if you remove the pan a good portion of thefluid is still inside the transmission and the TC. The machine at Jiffy lube uses about 20 quarts to dilute the system until little if any of the old fluid remains.

I used to hate rebuilding this poorly made gearbox we had at work because the smell would be on my hands for hours.

The best is when its old fluid in the transmission and after draining it some drops and you lay your head right in it. Makes your hair nice and shiny

My hair gets caught in the wheels of creepers, no matter how I try to keep it tied out of the way.

lol, i used to have that prob, but i cut my hair and have all access to a nice pit at my brothers garage now.....

on another note, not to hijack your thread, whats everyones input on merceron (sp?) dexron III atf? i changed my tranny filter and fluid and used the moentioned fluid, but the at still hesitates...

good 3 second delay when going from park to drive, and another good 2 maybe 3 second delay from 2nd to 3rd....i tried a blatent attempt on fixing it by changing the filter and fluid, but no improvement....problem hasent escilated one bit in over 13k miles.....odd??

not a hard shift, it shifts like it supposed to from 1st to 2nd....and 3rd to 4th
