Should I not buy these?

Post by magicmike »

I was going to pick up an Apexi AVC-R and the Apexi A-AFC. Any thoughts? I definatley need the boost controller but I'm not sure I need the piggy back a/f just yet. I thought I might be able to save some cash if I buy both at the same time. I'm planning on ordering tomorrow morning so hurry up and give me some advice ;)

I thought subies learned around afc so they had to be retuned every month or so. True programmable ecus are soooo much better.

I, personally, would go with the Turbosmart E-Boost.

There are better options than modifying the MAF signal to get proper fueling. That's not a very efficient way of doing things as it changes the ECU's computation for load.

I know Vikash and I, and Matt when his engine situation settles out, will be working with a standalone fuel controller that works with the ECU, not over top of it.

I'm not too sure if the computer learns around the piggy back systems. Maybe theoretically it should but there was a 93 legacy in Denver running 18psi on a garrett turbo with a piggy back. They figured it was putting out about 400 hp. It was the brother of one of the guys that runs flat4engineering, now tarmac.

I read up on the e-boost last night and it seems to me like the avcr would be a little better. I think I'll go with that. As far as fuel mods go thats next for me. Any suggestions there? I'm guessing a new fuel pump to start but what elese do I need to consider?

The greddy profic e-01 is the best boost controler in my opinion.

And as far as I know noone on this board has ever been able to prove personaly that piggy-backs don't work on our cars.

Just my two cents
