help!! my motor mounts arnt lining up

Post by 95LegacyLsi »

OK I begin this tale by trying to replace my oil pan gasket... and in order to reach those last 4 bolts in the back it was nessisary to raise the engine up a few inches, but now when i went to put it back down i am at least the bolt's diameter off.

basically the body and front subframe hole is behind the motor mount now....... is there anyway i can rock the car forward or back to help line it up?

has anyone run into this problem before?

or should i just take off the motor mounts, attach to the body and then try and line up the engine???

Jack up engine/transmission and push the bolts in with a large screwdriver or something to align holes while lowering the jack.

Yeah, you'll just have to man-handle it.

When I did my motor mounts, I used a rope to pull on the bolt in order to align it with the hole in the crossmember.

Don't feel bad, the mass-production of parts, especially rubber ones, ensures that some of the parts will come out a little deformed and have to be worked into place by the end user.

It won't have any effect on the mount's performance.

good advice
i think i asked for this by trying to shadetree mechanic this one. I think i may have found something to physically pull the engine back in place, maybe some tie straps and some light will fix this

this is the last time i try this on the ground.

Thanks all
