PCV WTF
Can I remove the PCV System and replace with breather filters?
You *CAN* do this, and I have seen pictures using atmospheric filters while dumping the rest of the pcv system.
I dont know why, but the advice I got was to plumb the pcv system correctly and not use filters.
Can anyone else chime in here???

Basically, he is using a catch can to catch any overflowing oil and then venting to the atmosphere - probably a good alternative...
You have an air/oil line feeding out of the heads for the pcv system - He ran those two line outs into the "line in" of the catch can. On the "line out" of the catch can, he put an atmospheric filter.

I would not recommend venting to atmosphere, and I would not recommend capping any vent line.
Keeping a slightly vacuum on the crankcase will help the piston rings seal better, and help with evacuating the blow-by gasses.

I'm not venting to atmosphere or capping anything (I don't think). I've got the two tubes coming from the crankcase breathers into a T and then into the catch can (The T is visible in the lower right). From there, two tubes come out of the catch can to the intake tubing and to the PCV valve.
I think the connections are all to the stock locations, just with a catch can added in the middle to catch the oil. Hopefully mother nature likes me.

Sam's is hooked up correctly. That's the best way to do it, for the reasons that Josh specified.
Venting them all isn't going to destroy anything, but it might increase blowby.

Due to space constraints I built some inline foam coalescing filters for the valve covers rather then trying to tie into the catch can.
