Top hats vs top mounts

I willl be installing the GC coilovers with KYB AGX on a 91 SS....the coilovers include spring top hats.....

So I need to go buy 93-01 Impreza rear top mounts?
Is this correct....I'm just a little confused on the top hats vs top mounts...please clarify so I can go buy the parts at a junkyard over lunch

top hat, top mount, strut top, etc are all terms for the same thing. This dealie is what you want:



You can find them in any AWD 92-94 Legacy or 93-01 Impreza.

Your ground control sleeves come with spring perches so you don't need to worry about tthem.

How much do these run from a dealer? Anyone have a ballpark?

Group N parts, which are harder rubber, run $110 a set from online places. oakos is sold out though.

Nobody has them....sucks...my install day is ruined....

What is the reason that the stock ones will not work?

90-91 Legacies have different rear mounts that look like this:



You could try to use them but I am pretty certain they won't work.

test fit the rear upper spring perch to the legacy upper mount. Depending on what kit you ordered you should be able to use the legacy mt or a WRX rear mt.

ps. you can probably get a mt from GC . it is an aluminum disc that uses hard urethane bushings. only you have to sand about half an inch off the inside because of the way the tower is shaped. bout $129
