newbie with a 27c1028

hi lads just joined i have just brought a impreza wrx thought it was quick took the ecu out and it had a chip in the bottom corner of the board, so any way i took the chip and read it on my mates eprom reader but i am stuck there anyone know how to convert the checksum into understandable data thanks lads.

Sounds like he's asking about how to read the information from the chip. vrg3 is probably the only one on the board qualified to assist him.

i was mostly really ocnufsde with how you worded it... :)

I'm not sure I understand.

You pulled the EPROM out of the ECU and read its contents? So if you look near the beginning -- maybe the first 4 or 8 kilobytes -- you'll see all the data tables. The remainder is full of code.

I don't know what is what there; your ECU is very different from mine. Things to look for, though, include a table of 64 16-bit numbers which are the MAF transfer function, and several 16x16 tables of 8-bit values for the ignition and fuel maps. By simply examining the curves you can probably figure some of them out. There's a boost control map in there somewhere, probably an 8x8 table of 8-bit values.

I don't know anything about the checksum algorithm.

thanks vrg3,yeah basily i have took it out read the eprom but thats it, how do i go from reading the eprom to getting it to curves, thanks again.

Have you taken a look at the ROM dump with a hex editor yet?
