Removing Drive axle 32mm bolt?

Post by aesalinas45 »

Any suggestions on getting these bolts broke loose? Went through three 24" breaker bars.

Are you talking about the axle nuts? You need to make sure the little section of the nut that is pounded into that gap in the axle to hold it in place is pounded back out. Then use a quality breaker bar with a 3-4 foot pipe. Works every time for me. I thought it was going to break the breaker bar last time but it finally gave.

My impact took it off pretty easy with the edge tapped in.

Ya I am creative to. Hook up impact, put on 32mm socket, put it in reverse, pull on switch to release air and make socket spin and hammer at the same time really quick :D

I agree, I have never had a problem with the axle nuts when taking them off with my impact. Getting the axle out of the hub is another story. Many, many axles I have taken my air hammer to, one still didnt come out, dropped the exhaust and did the DOJ boot in the car. Not fun.
